November 2011 Inaugural Fundraising Gala
A reception and seated dinner were held at the elegant and historic Organization of American States building in Washington DC on November 19, 2011. Attended by 300 people, the event was a huge success and a wonderful example of the warmth, style and hospitality of both the Middle East and the United States – a potent combination that successfully raised funds for Saint George Children’s Hospital. Internationally renowned fashion designer, Reem Acra, presented us with a world-class fashion show with items from her 2012 spring collection. Pierre Dulaine and youngsters from the Youth Dance Company, the performing arm of his arts-in-education program, Dancing Classrooms, enthralled our guests. Artist Helen Zughaib exhibited some of her vibrant paintings. And soprano Tania Kassis, who flew in from Beirut for the gala, performed a number with her remarkable voice. Earlier in the evening, the trio con brio! entertained our guests during the reception. The evening concluded with a live auction – a rousing end to a memorable event. During the event, the foundation honored Ms. Acra by presenting her with a Make a Difference Award for her support of the Foundation, and for introducing the beauty and classicism of Lebanon to the world through the international language of creativity, fashion, and design.
