October 2013 Fundraising Gala
Good friends and a good cause are a winning combination. Our Third Annual Gala to benefit Saint George Hospital held on October 5, 2013 at the elegant Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC, raised more funds than we’ve ever raised at any one event. We had more guests than we’ve ever previously had. We danced more. And most importantly, we had fun while having the privilege of helping to equip Saint George Children’s Hospital.
We were privileged to honor two of our Honorary Board members, Congressman Darrell Issa and Ms. Majida Mourad, both of whom make an indelible difference in the Lebanese-American community – not just in the Washington metropolitan area, but across the country, particularly in their home states of California and Ohio.
Two of members of Washington’s diplomatic corps – the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – championed our cause, helping the evening to be a success, along with the loyal support of our many patrons, donors and volunteers. We extend our special thanks to the Ambassadors of Kuwait, Lebanon, and Qatar, the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, Cheniere Energy Shared Services, Inc. and the Issa Family Foundation.
The renowned Pierre Dulaine emceed the evening for us and professional dancers from New York City, Richmond and northern California provided entertainment from ballroom dancing, to Latin dancing, to Lebanese Dabke. Auctioneer extraordinaire Lynne Zink made the live auction exciting and the appeal something special. The Medical Director of Saint George Hospital, Dr. Imad Hajj, joined us from Beirut and shared a story of the difference the hospital is able to make in the lives of children in Lebanon, and that difference is because of the generosity of the numerous friends who support the foundation.
